Castle Marnix de Sainte-Aldegonde

John de Marnix de Sainte-Aldegonde, the fourteenth count of Bornem, welcomes you to his medieval castle along the banks of the Scheldt. This castle is by far one of the most impressive fortresses in Flanders and has a rich history. In the coach houses of the castle you can admire an interesting and unique art collection that the count himself has collected.

Ursel Castle

Hingene Castle is the parental country residence of the Duke d'Ursel and is currently owned by the province of Antwerp. The eighteenth-century park is open to the public.

Castle of Wisselkerke-Bazel

The parental castle of the noble family Villian XIV was one of the first castles in our region to be built in neo-Gothic style. The walled gem houses a beautiful Egyptian hall and an authentic fifteenth-century suspension bridge.

Walburg Castle

Right in the centre of Sint-Niklaas lies the sixteenth-century Walburg Castle. The castle was built by order of knight Waelwijck and is just a stone's throw from the market. The domain has a beautiful English garden with an extensive collection of exotic trees. The gardens are part of the city park.

Blauwendael Castle

On the foundations of the seventeenth-century castle, Baron de Neve de Rode built a new estate in 1889. The municipality bought the castle from the family and it currently houses a museum with several exhibition spaces.

Cortewalle Castle

Cortwalle Castle is one of the oldest castles in Waasland and dates back to the fifteenth century. The comital family de Brouchoven de Bergeyck lived there for centuries in the moated castle. The collected art collection can still be viewed there today.
